Whats the deal with the plastic table on the pizza?

Why is it that when I order a pizza, a little plastic table thing is just there??Whats the deal with the plastic table on the pizza?
It's on there so that the top of the pizza box does not come in contact with the top of you pizza, causing the cheese to stick to the top of the box.
