Pizza place accepting Pesos?

I just watched a piece on CNN about a pizza shop accepting pesos as payment for their pizzas. They made this big deal about a company in the US accepting currency other than the dollar.

Why is this an issue?

All the nations in the world accept our currency (US dollars) as payment for their good and services in their country. Do we want to make it so that it becomes yet another 'issue' and foreigners refuse to accept the dollar as payment?Pizza place accepting Pesos?
This shouldn't be an issue. It's just good business in the communities Pizza Patron serves. I had this discussion with some people who thought it was the end of our civilization. I am a White American and I come back from Mexico and other countries all the time with pesos or other foreign currency in my pocket. It's not worth it to change them over at the exchange places because of the cut they take, so why not use them to pay for part of a pizza? The company even takes a cut for exchange, so it's actually just even more good old American business.

I do not think this means anything at all for our economy or our way of life, and anyone who does is making a huge deal out of nothing.

I agree that the issue is one of fear and racisim, but it's an inner racism that most people who harbor it won't admit to.

They give US dollars as change, not pesos, and they use a conversion chart to figure the conversion. You don't have to worry about getting change in pesos there.

Nobody is forcing any business to accept foreign currency, and that will never happen. If it bothers someone that much, they should just not shop there and quit whining.
Yes, a "United Statesian" would do fine, though the intended audience of my argument would hear and understand "American" much better, I think.

It is an issue because millions of Mexicans come here illegally and refuse to learn our language. This is another slap in the face of American culture.
Pizza Patron is the name of the chain. They are smart enough to know that many people enter the US as visitors and many of them have pesos to spend. Great way to offer something competing pizza chains do not do. You won't find too many illegal immigrants who still have pesos in their pocket.
The point is with all of the problems that we are having with Mexico and its trash moving north, why encourage it. When I go to another country to visit I get the proper currency before I go. This is not only common courtesy and respect for the country I am visiting but also forces me to learn a little bit about them. I suppose you're saying that Mexicans are too stupid to learn the difference between a peso and a dollar? Even I have a little higher opinion of them than that.

I have e-mailed these bozos and would urge every one else to do so. If they want Pesos, let them move to Mexico.

Just a little add in: US currency, this does not even include the penny, is the only currency that actually has to be accepted for goods or services in the US.
this is an issue of racism. It has nothing to do with economy. Old azz white haired, dead faced republicans are just hating on Mexicans cuz they're crossing the border. As if they really gave a damn about our border. This whole anti-illegal alien thing is just a way to fuel their racist beliefs and to justify how they really feel about a certain group of people. After all these years, it's almost funny how we as Americans view ourselves as the technologically superior ones yet we are still stuck on race issues while other countries have become morally superior than us and have moved away from it.
The US dollar isn't at its strongest, anyway. To have American businesses acceptiong pesos is just an insult.
I think probably the biggest reason why businesses wouldn't accept the peso would be the unstable nature of Mexico's economy. The peso could lose value much faster than the dollar or Canadian Dollar. Foreigners making this an issue would be incredibly hypocritical to say that the United States should accept currency from the country they were so desperate to leave.

Another issue would be how difficult it would be for every business to keep up with what the peso is worth in comparison to the dollar, unlike the common acceptance of Canadian quarters in place of American quarters, where the difference is too little to matter.
Good for the pizza place! If I had a business and I was located in an area with mostly a certain ethnicity and I could make more money by catering toward that community, think I wouldn't? More power to Patrones Pizza. Good for them.
If you got the peso as change, what you you do with it.
For a Liberal it was a pretty good capitalistic move, you couldn't buy that much advertising!
There is no law in the US that says anyone must accept US currency--if the business wants to accept pesos that's their right. It's not an issue. People can kick and scream all they want but at the end of the day there isn't anything they can do about it except not shop at that particular restaurant.
They shouldn't accept Pesos. This is America and this is another demonstration of how too much immigration has damaged our country.
go to mexico

or use the eurodollar
Here in Norther New York State, many businesses accept Canadian dollars.

When I was in Germany, most businesses accepted US Dollars
