What is more profitable for a student: having a job or participating in basic entrepreneurial activities?

What is better, $8-$10/hour stabile-income job?

Or doing very simple business? By that I mean:

-Buying/selling on eBay

-Freelancing (online and offline - includes tutoring, graphics design, etc.)

-Buying bulk quantities of pizza and selling them at college or a swap meet

-Internet marketing (affiliate marketing, blogging)

-Dealing drugs (yes people do it)What is more profitable for a student: having a job or participating in basic entrepreneurial activities?
Both :) that's whats great about some of those second choices is you can do them while working a second job. Internet (affiliate) marketing is something I do to make money on the side. The cool thing about it is eventually you will make enough to where it is more profitable than working your other job, and you can quit. I have been in different Network Marketing opportunities and found if you work them like a job they are very profitable. I am a college student and I just signed up for this cool one i think is great for students. it involves social media! It's called Ramcage. Truthfully i think it is going to be the next big thing, but that's me.

If you are looking to get involved in network marketing I would love to help and give you some advice. Let me know :)

Kevin
In your case, having a job. In the case of someone that knows the MEANING of entrepreneurial activity, creating their own business.

to not get thrown off campus you'd best not be selling quantity pizzas or dealing drugs.

$10 an hour at 40 hours a week steady work you can get your own apartment.

When you begin your own business you need a five-year business plan and a business license. Once owning a business you probably would not be allowed to sell to individuals on campus although you probably could post an ad on the bulletin board. Most businesses fail within 5 years of startup so that's why you'd need the five-year business plan, however if you were just trying to earn a few dollars then why go thru all that trouble, just get a job. I've not had much luck with buying/selling on Ebay. Freelancing sounds ok, so does internet marketing.
It really depends on where your career passions lie. What are you passionate about when it comes to business? But if trends are to go by, web marketing or internet marketing is on a roll this days. There are a lot of advantages to having an online business. Major of this is you get to set your own work time, you don't have to go to an office because your home can be your office, and you don't need so much equipment at start up. What you initially need is a good web marketing plan and an attractive and visitor-friendly website.
A job. For a variety of reasons. The largest one being a matter of time management. With a job, you go to it, you work, you go home and study. With the activities you mentioned, you have to frequently be making moves, which may affect school performance, which in turn my affect your bottom line by requiring you to take more classes, etc.
You can do all things but not dealing drugs. You can also start an affiliate marketing like Clickbank.
Getting a job. The others that you mention all take a lot of work (even drug dealing) and don't pay much back.
